World Environment Day 2017 – UK pushing boundaries in green-tech
05 Jun 2017
Today is World Environment Day and the UK is proud to be home to many innovative green-tech companies which are pushing boundaries by using technologies which could change our global cities, disrupt traditional industries and drive the change towards more sustainable living.
World Environment Day, the biggest annual event for positive environmental action, takes place every 5 June and the theme for 2017 is ‘Connecting People to Nature’.
With more than 70 per cent of people estimated to be living in urban areas by 2040, it's no surprise that over the last few years green technology has emerged as one of the most innovative and leading areas in the tech industry.
Making the world a greener and more ethical place to live has become key on the agenda of many businesses, with companies actively creating technologies and software to support this. And British businesses are leading the way, developing projects designed to "enable a step change in innovation that will make a real difference to the energy, transport and urban infrastructure of the future”*.
In the Spring Budget earlier this year, the government committed to an investment of an additional £4.7 billion over the next four years to help fund and promote more research and development (R&D). R&D tax credits have proved to be a major boost to British business, encouraging innovation and increased spending on research and development activities by companies operating in the UK.
At Beavis Morgan, our specialist R&D tax credits team has made a significant number of successful claims on behalf of businesses which have invested in innovation. Our partner business, BM Structured Finance, is also available to assist in sourcing the right funding for your business, enhancing cashflow and providing the finance your business needs now to achieve long-term success.
