Thirsty work for Marathon spectators, as sun shines on hospitality sector

20 Apr 2018

It seems Spring has finally sprung, as Britain enjoys its hottest April days since 1949 and the hospitality sector gets ready to reap the rewards.

Whilst thousands head for the beaches to soak up the sunshine, the hospitality sector is gearing up for a better than usual weekend.

As history has shown, with the improved weather generally comes an increase in the number of patrons visiting pubs, bars and restaurants, as more people look to spend money on food and drink, prioritising experiences over goods.

Adding to this, over 40,000 runners will visit the Capital for the London Marathon on Sunday, which last year saw 800 000 spectators take to the streets of London to support their friends and family.

Pubs, bars and restaurants along the 26.2-mile route are sure to enjoy the increase in the number of visitors looking to relish a well-earned refreshment break, with a number of newspaper outlets publishing guides to the best pubs and bars along the way, in an attempt to encourage onlookers to support the runners “by raising a glass in their honour.”

But, whilst the hospitality sector is likely to benefit from the sun-fuelled increase in footfall, it is important for businesses to put measures in place to sustain this growth over the coming months and beyond.

In order to survive and thrive, business owners need accurate, reliable and timely financial information, whether that be profit or cash focused, or both, to accurately and effectively manage the company's finances and drive growth.

Speak to our hospitality sector specialists about how we can help to identify your requirements and then design and implement a system which will provide all the information you need, within a cost effective and efficient framework.

In the meantime, we are wishing the London Marathon runners all the best for a successful race, including our very own Amber Walker and James Strudwick who will be running in aid of charities Teenage Cancer Trust and Heads Together respectively.
